Who is Andreas Almgren
Andreas Almgren, born 1995, is a Swedish long-distance runner and the fastest European ever recorded over two very different distances: the 5,000 metres and the half marathon. Holding a European record at one of those would be a career. Holding it at both, a short track distance and a long road distance, says something specific about how completely his training system works.
In 2025 he added a historic Swedish medal in the 10,000 metres at the World Championships in Tokyo. In 2026 he won 10,000m gold with a championship record at the European Championships in Birmingham, and is now building toward the New York City Marathon, his first serious step up to 42.2 kilometres.
Andreas Almgren is a Swedish distance runner who holds the European record over 5,000 metres and the half marathon, and is one of the few runners alive who is genuinely world-class at both a short track distance and a long road distance.
